The Salt Lake County Regional Jail in Salt Lake City, Utah is a maximum-security facility.

The mission of the Salt Lake County Jail is to “protect the public through the booking and detention of individuals who pose a danger to society, provide humane care to those incarcerated, and facilitate programs which will assist them in avoiding future criminal activity.” (Salt Lake City County Jail Website)

The management philosophy used in the Jail is an innovative concept of prisoner management called “Direct Supervision” where physical barriers are replaced with behavioral boundaries.
