Sending a Mail

All incoming mail, except legal mail and photographs, must be on United States Postal Service issued plain white, pre-stamped postcards (3 1/2 x 5 1/2).

Postcards that appear to have been contaminated, stained or have substances (tape, glue, glitter, etc.) on them will not be accepted.

Photographs will still be accepted through the mail in an envelope. Inmates are only allowed 10 photos.

The photographs may not contain any writing on them or appear to have been contaminated, stained or have substances (tape, glue, glitter, etc.) on or with them.

Only photographs that are 4 inches by 6 inches will be accepted.

The following guidelines apply:

  • All mail must be sent through the United States Postal Service. Mail that is dropped off at the jail will be denied.
  • You must include a complete return address with your full name.
  • You must use regular, ink or pencil.
  • Inmates may not receive packages or greeting cards.
  • Legal mail is only opened in the presence of the inmate.
  • Books must be sent directly from a bookstore or publisher and must be new.  Used books will be returned.  Inmates may have up to five (5) books in their cell. Books must be 8 1/2 X 11 or smaller and no thicker than 2 inches.
  • Magazines, newspapers or other periodicals may only come as a subscription from the publisher via the United States Postal Service. Inmates are allowed a maximum of two subscriptions.
  • Mail is received five days a week, Monday through Friday, except holidays.

If your mail is denied for any reason, it will be returned to sender with a brief explanation of why the mail was denied.

Visiting Rules

Davis County Jail now offers at home internet visiting, as well as on-site video monitor visits. Visiting will be by appointment only. To make an appointment go to: www.securustech.net/Videovisitation

A visit may be canceled at any time before the visit begins free of charge, but once the visit is started there are no refunds. Using a headset with a microphone is recommended for the best sound quality when visiting from home. A monitor and headset is provided for all on-site visits.

Inmates can receive two scheduled at home internet visits a day according to availability. At home internet visits are subject to a fee. On-site public visiting is available by appointment twice a week and is free of charge.

Please schedule at home and onsite visits by visiting the above web address. Visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. You may also schedule a visit in the Jail Visiting Lobby.

Professional and Clergy visits need to bring in verification in order to receive privileged visits. Please bring your verification to the main Jail Lobby for approval, or call 801-451-4299 in order to schedule an appointment.
