Sending a Mail
Inmates are allowed to send and receive letters. Letters mailed to inmates shall be no larger than 12" by 16".

- Inmates may purchase writing supplies (paper, envelopes, pens, and stamps) from the inmate commissary. Writing supplies are furnished to indigent inmates.
- The only item which may be enclosed with correspondence mailed to an inmate is 10 or less unframed photographs no larger than 4" by 6"
- Any contraband items received will be returned to sender.
- New, soft-backed books must be mailed directly from a well established and recognized retail book store such as (Barnes and Noble or Amazon etc...). Magazines and cross-word puzzle books must be a subscription from a publisher.
- Photographs determined to contain inappropriate subject matter or images depicting nudity, sexual acts, physical violence or gruesome subject matter will not be allowed.
Sending Money
San Saba County Sheriff’s Office Detention Bureau will no longer accept cash by mail or in person. Cash received through the mail will be returned to sender. US Postal and Western Union money orders will only be accepted by mail. The mailing address is:

Phone Calls
Free phone calls at San Saba County Jail are only available while the inmate is in the booking process. Each holding cell has a telephone. This phone is available for inmates to make calls to arrange bail, inform family of their circumstances or to reach an attorney.
Calls are free within the local dialing area. Collect call phones are available to make calls outside of the local dialing area.

Visiting Rules
All facilities have the same visitation schedule. The signing up of visitors begins 30 minutes prior to the start of visiting hours. Visitors will not be processed after 8:30 p.m.
Each inmate will be limited to one 30-minute visit per day. A maximum of two adults will be allowed to visit at any one time.
Each inmate may receive a maximum of three visits per week, not including an attorney, law enforcement or professional visits unless approved by a Supervisor
Visitors who have been incarcerated in a San Saba County detention facility within the past 6 months will not be authorized to visit.
A conservative dress code is enforced for all visitors coming in to visit. Please dress in clothing which is appropriate for a large gathering of men, women and young children.
Wearing inappropriate clothing (such as provocative or revealing clothes) will result in you being denied visitation.
