The South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) has a mission of three S’s – safety, service, and stewardship. The department seeks to protect the public, employees, and inmates. It also seeks to provide rehabilitation and self-improvement opportunities for inmates. Lastly, it seeks to promote professional experience, fiscal responsibility, and self-sufficiency.

The South Carolina DOC website hosts an inmate locator database that provides information on currently incarcerated individuals. To lookup an inmate, one can enter their SCDC or ID number or their first/last name (or partial parts). There is also an option to search by phonetic match for names.
