If you send an inmate in the Southport Jail a letter or a package, the letter or package will either be disposed of, refused, or sent directly back to you.

Please do not send anything to the Southport Jail. By the time it gets there the inmate would have either been released or the inmate would have been transferred off to the Marion County Jail.

Sending Money

Again, same with sending money to the Southport Jail. The Southport Jail is a short-term facility. Inmates in the Southport Jail do not have the privilege of getting or needing money while they are here.

Please do not mail any cash, money orders, or cashier’s check to the Southport Jail. Please do not come down to the Southport Jail with any cash, money orders, or cashier’s checks. These will be refused.

Phone Calls

The one and only privilege inmates will have in the Southport Jail will be access to a telephone in their jail cell.

Every cell in the Southport Jail has a telephone in it. Inmates will be permitted to use that telephone at their direction.

Inmates will only be able to make collect calls. So, if you and your family does not have access to a landline, or the inmate does not know the landline number, you will never receive the calls. Collect calls do not work on a cell phone, unfortunately.
