Inmate Search
Inmates who have been incarcerated since 1982 can be located online through the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. One can locate an inmate by searching their BOP, DCDC, FBI or INS number or by their first and last name. Additional information that can be used to narrow down search results is race, age, and sex. The inmate’s institution is listed in the search results.
Sending a Mail
Correspondence is encouraged between inmates and loved ones during incarceration. There are two categories of mail: general and special. General correspondence is opened and inspected for contraband. Special mail (from or two government workers and offices) must be marked as such and will be opened and inspected in the presence of the inmate.
Inmates are not allowed to receive packages unless they receive approval from their unit or staff team. Packages that are approved can only contain clothing to be worn upon release and medical devices. All packages should be sent freight/non-UPS. Family and friends can send published material (soft cover books and magazines) directly from a publishing site (i.e. Amazon). These items must be approved by staff and should not contain content that is overly violent, sexual or crude.
