The Pinellas County Jail is on 54 acres of land in central Pinellas County, and is currently the 28th largest jail in the nation. It is the only jail in Pinellas County and serves all law enforcement agencies. The jail houses an average daily of 3,000 inmates.

Sending a Mail

You may send packages and mail to any inmate in Pinellas County Jail.

All incoming mail is opened and searched for contraband. All magazines, newspapers, and books must come directly from the publisher.

Legal mail will be opened in the presence of the inmate

Self-addressed, stamped envelopes, or stamps are not allowed in the jail.

Inmates are allowed to have a maximum of ten 4 x 6 photographs in their housing area.  All incoming letters that contains more than ten photos will be returned to the sender.

Sending Money

The Pinellas County Jail accepts money orders for inmates. The money order must contain the inmate’s full name, docket number, and housing assignment.

You can securely send money to, or order commissary for, an inmate through MyCarepack.com. Money deposits can be made by phone at: 1-866-394-0490 (toll-free), or at a lobby kiosk for a small convenience fee. Visa, MasterCard, and cash (Kiosk only) are accepted. Kiosks are located in the main lobby of the Jail (24/7) and at the video visitation center during visitation hours only.

Phone Calls

Inmates cannot receive phone calls; however, they are allowed to make collect calls.

Inmate Messaging

A new feature of Pinellas County jail is that you can now communicate with inmates through electronic messaging.

Inmates are eligible to receive and reply to messages. All messages are screened by Sheriff’s Office personnel.

Inmates access their messages through kiosks located in their housing areas. Incoming messages have a 3,000-character limit, and outgoing messages are limited to 1,000 characters. Each message sent or received costs $.50, and messages are sold in $10 blocks. Message credits are funded through the SmartDeposit Website: www.smartdeposit.com.

Click here to schedule a visit.  All visits will be 40 minutes long. To schedule an appointment by phone or for help using the online appointment, call 727-464-6842 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.

Video Visitation Center

The Video Visitation Center for all inmates is located at 14500 49th Street North in the Pinellas County Jail Administration Support Building. All visitors and their guests must schedule visits no later than midnight the prior day.

Reservations to visit inmates will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations will be accepted up to one week in advance. Reservations are taken 24 hours a day 7 days a week at www.PCSOWEB.com/Onlinevisitation.

Three persons may visit; one adult with two children – or – two adults with one child. No more than two adult visitors at one time are allowed.

Minors are not permitted without an adult.

All visitors must present a valid photo identification card (U.S.Govt. or State issued ID/Driver License) for admittance to the Video Visitation Center.

 11:30 a.m.- 12:10 p.m.  4:00 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.
 12:30 p.m.- 1:10 p.m.  5:00 p.m. to 5:40 p.m.
 1:30 p.m.- 2:10 p.m.  6:00 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.
 2:30 p.m.- 3:10 p.m.  7:00 p.m. to 7:40 p.m.

Please read the following information about visitation:

The following criteria MUST be met to ensure safety, security, and a pleasant visitation period for all concerned:

  • All visitors must present a valid photo identification card (U.S.Govt. or State issued ID/Driver License) for admittance to the Video Visitation Center.
  • No weapons of any kind.
  • Drugs, alcohol, food, drink, or tobacco products are NOT
  • All electronic devices, including cell phones, will be turned off or visits can and will be terminated.
  • Clothing that may be considered obscene, offensive, or disruptive will not be allowed. The supervisor or member in charge of visitation will have the ultimate decision in this regard.
  • Conduct that is disruptive or disrespectful in any manner (children or adults) will not be tolerated. The visit will be canceled at any time due to disrespectful conduct if it is deemed necessary by the supervisor or member in charge.
  • Visit only the inmate you signed up for.
  • Do not leave trash, etc. in the visiting booths or visitation area.
  • Do not damage or deface visiting booths or phones. Immediate termination of visit will occur. Future visits may be restricted or denied.
