When it comes to the Palmetto Jail in Palmetto, Florida, you will find that the facility is utterly small facility.
The Palmetto Jail is often confused with the bigger Manatee County Jail. The Manatee County Jail is the long-term holding facility, while the Palmetto Jail is pretty much short-term holding.
The Palmetto Jail will typically ONLY house an inmate up to 72 hours (3 days). It takes the Palmetto Jail approximately 24 hours to fully book them into the facility and the next 48 hours will either consist of them getting released or sent off to the Manatee County Jail.

Of course, you may or may not be looking for your loved one. You may think that the Palmetto Jail has their records and mugshots online. Unfortunately, with how fast the booking and releasing process is done in the facility, the city of Palmetto jail does not have this information out for the general public.

Sending a Mail
With the Palmetto Jail being strictly a short-term facility, inmates in the Palmetto Jail will not receive this privilege.
Sending a letter or a care package to an inmate is strictly for facilities that keep their inmates longer than 72 hours (3 days).
If you send an inmate in the Palmetto Jail a letter or a package, the letter or package will either be disposed of, refused, or sent directly back to you.
Please do not send anything to the Palmetto Jail. By the time it gets there the inmate would have either been released or the inmate would have been transferred off to the Manatee County Jail.
Sending Money
Again, same with sending money to the Palmetto Jail. The Palmetto Jail is a short-term facility. Inmates in the Palmetto Jail do not have the privilege of getting or needing money while they are here.
Please do not mail any cash, money orders, or cashier’s check to the Palmetto Jail. Please do not come down to the Palmetto Jail with any cash, money orders, or cashier’s checks. These will be refused.
It is best to wait for the inmate to get transferred out to the Manatee County Jail or another facility on that level where they will need funds. They will not need any funds while in the Palmetto Jail.
Phone Calls
The one and only privilege inmates will have in the Palmetto Jail will be access to a telephone in their jail cell.
Every cell in the Palmetto Jail has a telephone in it. Inmates will be permitted to use that telephone at their direction.
Inmates will only be able to make collect calls. So, if you and your family does not have access to a landline, or the inmate does not know the landline number, you will never receive the calls. Collect calls do not work on a cell phone, unfortunately.

Inmates can receive visits from their legal counsel though. Inmates are not permitted to receive visits from their friends and family.
