Sending a Mail

Inmates can receive written letters from their loved ones. All letters will be opened and examined prior to the Jacksonville Jail staff member giving it to the inmate.

However, if you would like to send a package to the Jacksonville Jail, you will need to follow strict guidelines as well.

First and foremost, all items that you send in a package must be new. Here are the following items that will be accepted. All other items will be refused.

  • Shampoo (Must be in clear container and transparent)

  • Brush or Plastic Comb (Comb cannot have any sort of handle. The Brush must have no handle or a rounded handle)

  • Deodorant (Requires to be in plastic container)

  • Toothbrush (No Electric)

  • Toothpaste (Must be new)

  • Bath Towel

  • Single Blade Disposable Razors

  • Soft Sole Shoes

  • Envelopes, Writing Paper5, Stamps, Ballpoint Pen

Sending Money

Need to send money to an inmate at the Jacksonville Jail? Since the Jacksonville Jail is a short-term facility, the only way they will accept inmate funds is through a money order being handed to them at the lobby.

The money order will be required to be made out to the Jacksonville Jail and have the inmate’s name on it.

Phone Calls

Jacksonville Jail allows inmates to make collect calls to their family and friends. All calls are limited to 15-minutes

Visiting Rules

Before you will be permitted to visit an inmate, the inmate will be required when they go through the admissions phase of booking to give a list of people who he or she wants to visit while they are at the Jacksonville Jail. Only people who are on this list that the inmate gave will be permitted to visit at the Jacksonville Jail.

The Jacksonville Jail has its visitation set up based solely on the inmates last name. The current schedule is 6 pm to 7 pm on the following days:

  • Inmates with the last name starting from A to L will have visitation on Tuesdays.

  • Inmates with the last name starting from M to Z will have visitation on Thursdays.

Inmates will be allowed to have 2 visitors every calendar week. All visitors coming to the Jacksonville Jail will be required to have the proper identification on them. Visitors will also have to undergo a search prior to being let into the facility.

If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will not be permitted into the facility. If you have been released from the Jacksonville Jail within the last 30 rolling days, you will also not be permitted to visit an inmate.
