The Placer County Jail-Auburn was opened for employee training and orientation. Later, inmates began being housed in the jail.

The goal of the Placer County Jail-Auburn is to create a safe, secure and humane environment for both staff members and inmates.
Former Sheriff, architects, and jail consultants toured eight jails in California. A combination of the best attributes of each jail was used in determining the layout of the Placer County Jail-Auburn. The result is a non-linear, direct/indirect supervised facility. There are pods for maximum security, minimum security, a dormitory housing unit and barracks for work release inmates.
This facility houses individuals who are officially charged with a crime or waiting for trial of a crime.

Visiting Rules
Here is the schedule a visitation at Placer County Jail-Auburn.
All visitations are scheduled online. All visitors must be registered online. Both adults and children need to be registered in order to set up visitation.
Call within 24 hours of your visitation. The following are the visitation policy and rules:

One scheduled inmate visitation will be allowed per week. Visitation days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Depending on the inmate's pod, your time to visit will be scheduled between 8 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.

Each housing unit has at least two designated times a week when visitation can occur.

If the inmate is in H Building, Park in the H Building parking lot and go directly to H Building to sign in.
Dress Code
When you visit an inmate in Placer County Jail-Auburn, you need to abide by the following dress code:

Shirts must cover cleavage.

No “see through” shirts/tops.
-
Shirts must cover midriff.
-
No tank tops, halter tops, spaghetti straps, sleeveless shirts, or tube tops allowed. The shirt must completely cover the shoulders.

When wearing shorts, skirts, or dresses, the end of your fingertips should not pass the end of the fabric when you are standing with your arms by your sides.

No sagging or excessively baggy pant/shorts.
Violation of the visitation rules will result in a ban from future visits indefinably.
