The Bay Minette Jail was founded in 1859. It was first situated on West Side’s Scranton Road. It then transferred over to PO Box 1208, Bay Minette, AL, 36507 back in 1904.

Since the 19th century, the Bay Minette Division of Police was the law agency that his responsible for supporting the Bay Minette Jail. It was not until September of 2007, when both the Bay Minette Division of Police and the Bay Minette Jail came together and ultimately created the Division of Corrections.

The Bay Minette Jail has the right to refuse, dispose of, or return any letter that does not follow their strict guidelines.
